No one is perfect, certainly not me, but I think we all strive at some time or another in our life to achieve a certain level of satisfaction in being the best you can be. This can mean different things for different people.  For me it is being kind hearted and caring for my fellow human beings, for others it is doing their job to the best of their ability. Others may be trying to fulfil their aim of being the best mother, the best daughter, sister or wife. Whatever it is, it is never a wasted opportunity to try and improve YOU.

Setting goals and striving to do better is a part of life – we are always evolving as we grow through our journey.

Here are some tips to help you along the road to the self-discovery of a better you and ultimately a better life.

  1. BE CONFIDENT
Choose the area of your life you would like to improve on or make a change in and stick to it.  It is not for anyone else to judge.  Being confident gives you a greater sense of get up and go and will drive you to achieve what you are aiming for. Back yourself!!
  2. BE ORIGINAL
You know yourself better than anyone else.  If you have something you have always wanted to do but never had the courage to, go for it!!!  Put yourself out there.  Just because others don’t think a particular pursuit isn’t worth while it doesn’t mean it won’t suit you.  Find your own path, your own dreams and follow them!!
  3. BE OPEN TO NEW THINGS
Don’t cut yourself off from possibilities.  How will you ever know what you are capable of if you don’t give new things a try?
  4. CHANNEL YOUR POTENTIAL
Look deep inside yourself and find the things that can really make your heart sing.  What are you good at?  What do you enjoy doing?   What will challenge you? What will you thrive on?
  5. PRACTICE SELF ANALYSIS
It never hurts any of us to occasionally look at ourselves and see the things that are working or not working for us in our life.  Be honest with yourself, there is no reason why if something is not working you can’t put things in place to change it.
  6. EAT HEALTHILY AND EXERCISE
It is now proven that a good diet and a moderate amount of exercise is good for us on all levels.  It makes both our body and mind healthy enough to lead the fight in becoming a better you.
  7. HELP OTHERS
Apart from being able to help family and friends, try to become active in your Community.  It is such a great sense of self-fulfilment to be able to help others in need and who are less fortunate.  Being kind to others will bring rewards back.  It may also inadvertently make us see that our problems may not be as big as we think they are.
  8. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
We can get so caught up in our busy lives that we sometimes forget to take time out for ourselves.  Stop and smell the roses, give yourself a well-earned break, do something just for yourself that you enjoy doing.  Have some down time, have a cuppa with friends, go out for tea – make the time!  You deserve a reward every now and again.  Giving yourself a well- earned break no matter how big or small will spur you on to do well for the next thing.
  9. BE EDUCATED
Being educated will give you the extra tools to be able to strive for a better you.  If there is a particular thing you have always wanted to do or be, look at the courses that would best suit your life and enrol!!  Education and knowledge is power.  You do not have to necessarily get a degree – it could be a food- handling course or a first aid certificate!!  See what is out there.  Challenge yourself!!

Hopefully there are a few hints there that you can relate to in order to get you started on the path to a better you.

To be the best you have to do your best.  Remember, you aren’t the only one that wants triumph, everybody wants to be a champion, but only those who believe in themselves will keep up til they achieve it!
